Dr James Greenwood

Dr. James Greenwood is a practicing small animal veterinarian. Originally from Yorkshire, James developed a deep passion for helping animals from an early age, which naturally led him to a career in veterinary medicine.

With over a decade of veterinary experience, James has treated a wide range of animals, from pigs and donkeys to dogs, horses, and even elephants! James uses his platform to advocate for all the topics he’s passionate about, such as ventinary medicine, animal welfare and LGBTQIA+ Equality.

James first appeared on our screens as a contestant on the first series of BBC 2’s “The Great Pottery Throwdown”. After gaining popularity on Throwdown, he later starred in the BAFTA-nominated children’s show “The Pets Factor’ on CBBC. James’ success led him to further appearances on CBBC shows, such as ‘Blue Peter’, ‘Saturday Mash-Up’ and ‘Top Class’. In 2020, he became the resident vet on BBC One’s “Morning Live” and in 2023, James fronted ‘Fur babies’ on Channel 4 which followed the pregnancies and births of the nation’s pets.

As well as all his TV accomplishments, James has grown a strong and engaged following on his social pages, with over 50k followers on his Instagram. Through this, James has worked with Suresto , Zoetis, and YuMove on social campaigns, James is also a brand ambassador for Forthglade and PetPlan. He has also involved in many media campaigns, such as ‘Adoptober’ with RSPCA and ‘Tick Awareness’ with MSD, whilst also being a best-selling author after his book ‘For the Love of Animals’ was released in July 2023.
James currently resides on a smallholding in North Somerset with his Husband Mark, their rescue Labrador, Dolly, along with hens, sheep, and a couple of pigs. In May 2023, James and Mark welcomed their first baby Oliver via surrogacy.
