Reece Parkinson is a BBC Radio 1Xtra Host, DJ, Presenter, broadcaster and influencer. Having honed his presenting skills at the youth station ‘Reprezent’ and through covering and hosting various 1Xtra shows, Reece is now the host of the Radio 1Xtra drive time slot.
Reece joins Jermain Jenas and his footballing mates to bring football, fashion, music and culture from around the premier to primetime TV on ‘MOTDx’. On this show Reece and his co-hosts get up close and personal with those at the very top of football. Alongside this Reece regularly presents for BBC Sport, creating fresh new content with huge names and sporting stars, including heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua and rapping sensation, Yungen. Alongside this he is a regular presenter for BBC Sport and has hosted shows such as the Vitality Big Half, FA Cup Final special Road To Wembley and the BBC Three Digital special Bellator MMA: Crash Course amongst others.
It’s no secret that Reece is a huge fan of running and regularly shares his progress with his audience over on his Instagram. In 2020 Reece was determined to run one of the UK’s toughest races with only 37 days to train, sharing his journey with a BBC Newsbeat documentary. Reece set his sights on the ‘MONTANE® Cheviot Goat Ultra’ – a brutal non-stop fifty-five mile ultramarathon over the freezing and mountainous hills of Northumberland. However, whilst training Reece was hit with a serious and life-changing medical diagnosis of type 1 diabetes. However, he didn’t give up and both documentaries ‘How Not To Run 55 Miles’ and ‘How to Run 55 Miles’ are up on BBC iPlayer.
Alongside his TV work Reece is one of the trainers and voices of the BBC running app Couch 2 5K and is the presenter of BBC Sounds podcast Pacesetter.
